Ingredients

  • cooking spray
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish, white
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning
  • 1 12-ounce package Hawaiian rolls, 12 rolls, such as King's Hawaiian brand
  • ¾ pound thinly sliced ham, leftover ham or your favorite deli ham
  • ¾ pound sliced Swiss cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly spray the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Keeping the rolls attached together, cut them in half lengthwise to make a top and bottom (I use a long serrated bread knife for this).
  • Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Remove from the heat and add the maple syrup, mustard, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, and bagel seasoning; stir until well-combined.
  • Place the bottom half of the rolls in the baking dish. Brush an even layer of the butter mixture over the rolls (you will only use some of the butter mixture here; the rest will be used later).
  • Top with half of the cheese, making an even layer (cut the slices to fit if needed).
  • Top with all of the ham, making an even layer (cut the slices to fit, if needed).
  • Top with the remaining half of the cheese, making an even layer.
  • Top with the top half of the buns; brush the top of the buns with the remaining butter mixture.
  • Cover the baking dish tightly with foil; bake for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the foil from the baking dish and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes or until the top is golden brown and slightly crispy.
  • Slice and serve immediately. These are best when fresh and hot from the oven!

Recipe Notes

  • If you have any leftover, store them covered in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days. Reheat them in the oven (325°F) wrapped in foil until warmed through, opening the foil towards the end to crisp up the bun, or you can pop them in the microwave (although they won't get crisp). They're even good cold!
